Glasgow Centurions had their first competitive outing in the Glasgow Lions Beginners Tournament on April 25th at Whitecraigs Rugby Club in Newton Mearns. We were up against 11 other beginners teams from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Stirling. It was a fantastic day with an amazing performance by the team all helped by the sunny Glasgow weather!
All our hard work in training over the past few months paid off as we finished second in our group and qualified for the Plate Semi Final. After a close match with Kana Touch we ran out winners and made it to the Plate Final. A very strong Superhands team awaited us and we made a good start with a couple of early tries however Superhands clawed the points back to eventually win the Plate Final.
Overall Glasgow Centurions finished a well deserved 6th place out of 12 teams. Congratulations to all the players involved and a big thanks to Glasgow Lions who organised the tournament, it was an great day which the whole team enjoyed. Our next big challenge is our first league appearance in May!
A big thanks to David Baldie for taking the team photos on the day.
